Missing Juveniles. On the evening of the 7th of August 2010 at approximately 2140 Jefferson County Communications received a call of 3 young boys ages 8, 9 and 10 tubing on the river and had been separated from the adult at approximately 2000. The adult had attempted to locate the three boys and was not able to locate them. Jefferson County rescue was activated to conduct a search for the boys. The search area was on the Little Blue River between 562 and 564 Ave. A search was conducted using water craft and teams on foot in and along the river. The boys were located by personnel at approximately 2249, they were checked out by EMS personal and found to be unharmed. The boys were transported back to the command post that had been established at the County Highway Department parking lot by Jefferson County Emergency Management. They were then turned over to their parents or guardians. Jefferson County Rescue is made up of 5 emergency service units, The Fairbury Police Department, Fairbury City Fire, Fairbury Rural Fire, Jefferson County Ambulance District 33 and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Approximately 35 personal responded to the call.  

On the 1st of August 2010 Tammy Cummings age 43 of Fairbury, Ne was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for Procuring Alcohol for Minors. On the 25th of July Amber Hernandez age 31 of Fairbury, Ne was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for Procuring Alcohol for Minors. These two arrest were initiated from an incident that had occurred on June 10th 2010 Southwest of Fairbury were there was a one vehicle accident involving Katherine Workman, age 18 of Fairbury, Ne. Workman was arrested for Driving under the influence. An investigation was conducted and two arrest warrants were obtained for Procuring Alcohol for minors. Hernandez was released from jail on a $5000.00 10% bond on the 27th of July 2010. Cummings in being held on a $10,000.00 10% bond in the county jail. Cummings was released on the 3rd of August after posting 10% of $5000.00 bond. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to view this type of incident as extremely serious and will continue our mission to stop this behavior and crime.

Last week Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Harrison County WV Sheriff’s Office in Clarksburg, WV. They had information that Chad D. Myers age 35 of Fairbury was in there jurisdiction. Myers has an active warrant for Possession of a firearm by prohibited person, Terroristic Threats and Assault by mutual consent. These charges stem from an incident in Steele City, Ne on the 5th of June 2010. Myers was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Service on a Jefferson County Warrant and held in the North Central Regional Jail in Greenwood, WV. On the 30th of July 2010 Myers waived extradition to be returned to Nebraska. Myers arrived at the Jefferson County Jail on the 31st of July 2010. Myers remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting setting of Bond.  

On the evening of the 1st of August 2010 a Deputy of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert J. Barton DOB 11-10-1970 of rural Alexandria. Barton came to the Sheriff’s Office to turn himself in. A warrant had been issued by Jefferson County Court. Barton had failed to verify his registry with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as required by the Sex Offender Registry statues. This charge is a Class IV Felony. Which carries a penalty of a Maximum of five years imprisonment or Ten thousand dollar fine, or both and a Minimum of none. Barton was released from the Jefferson County Jail after posting a 10% of $50,000.00 bond. Barton is scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Court on August 6th, 2010  

On the morning of the 6th of July 2010 a Deputy of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael L. Keylon, DOB 02-12-1965 of Fairbury. A warrant had been issued by Jefferson County Court. Keylon had failed to verify his registry with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as required by the Sex Offender Registry statues. This charge is a Class IV Felony. Which carries a penalty of a Maximum of five years imprisonment or Ten thousand dollar fine, or both and a Minimum of none. Keylon is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a 10% of $50,000.00 bond. Keylon was released on a $50,000.00 Personal recognizance bond on July 7th.
