Every May, during National Emergency Services Week, we demonstrate our services to the public. EMS services go throughout the community educating the public and teaching kids at local schools. In 2006, the ambulance service held a fund-raiser to raise money for the Jefferson County Rescue Squad. We called in the Life-Flight helicopter, had 2 ambulances, and the local rescue truck for the public to tour. We sold hotdogs and pop and held a drawing for prizes donated from local business. A demo car was donated for public demolition. People of all ages lined up to hit the car with a sledgehammer. EMS broke out the tools from the rescue truck and gave a demonstration of cutting the car apart. A successful turnout, we raised over $200 for the Rescue Squad.
